My teen was away studying at Columbia University all last month so perhaps that accounts for my general mushiness in some of this month’s Staging Diva Dispatch posts.
As I watch her try to figure out what she wants to do for a career, I’m so reminded of how important it is to notice what we’re good at and what we naturally love to do.
Many of us forget when we’re all grown up and have to read all kinds of self-help books and do exercises to rediscover “our bliss.” With that in mind, I looked back on my own memories of decorating as a kid and signs that it was something I was born to do. I wrote a blog post about it which elicited some great childhood memories from my fellow home stagers which I will share with you in later this month.
You’ll also learn how to educate real estate agents about home staging, how to spread your staging business name far and wide and tips to getting media attention for your home staging business, prompted by a feature article in The Australian which says, “In the US they call it ‘home staging’ and the queen is Debra Gould (aka the Staging Diva) who writes endlessly on the subject and runs training programs for people looking to set themselves up as professional home stagers.” We can’t afford to buy publicity like this so it’s important to know how to attract it!
I welcome your opinions and/or new story ideas and hope you enjoy this month’s Staging Diva Dispatch posts as we dive into the second half of summer. Please use the marketing ideas you’ll read here to lay the foundation for the many staging projects that can be yours in early September, as the fall real estate market swings into gear!
