Backstage with Staging Diva in September 2011

By Debra Gould, The Staging Diva >>

September means back to school for the kids, but it also means uncovering new ways to accelerate your own path to success. I love this time of year because I always feel like it’s a fresh start.

While I don’t miss all that homework and pressure of exams and term papers, I do consider myself a lifelong learner. I invest a minimum of $5,000 a year in my continuing education. This takes the form of books, magazines, seminars and courses that help me grow my home staging training business and become a stronger mentor and teacher.

As a member of the Staging Diva community, you benefit from this because I bring the highlights of my continued education and apply them to the field of home staging for you via articles, blog posts, business coaching, ebooks and Staging Diva Dialog (our monthly Q&A/group coaching call).

In the past, Staging Diva Dialog has only been available to Staging Diva Graduates; however I’ve decided to open it up to EVERYONE starting this month. So if you have any questions about your staging business, make sure you join me for our next group call!

Did you know that the average person spends 56,000 hours at work in a lifetime? If that’s not an argument for finding work you enjoy, I don’t know what is!

This month, I share how much you can really make doing home staging consultations, the surprising success rates of home-based businesses, why Staging Diva Graduates don’t wash towels and more.

If you missed my last “Save the Date” post go check it out. I included links to trade events, a symposium I’ll be speaking at on Sept. 17, and the opportunity to attend casting sessions for Season 7 of HGTV’s “Design Star.” Thankfully, the casting assistant contacted me so I could share this invitation with the Staging Diva community.

Years ago, I tried out for a host spot on the very first home staging TV show. I didn’t get it in the end, but it was quite a hoot being considered. I recall giggling all the way to the final taping. TIP: I met the producer at a networking event. You just never know who you’ll meet when you get out there!

I welcome your opinions and/or new story ideas and hope you enjoy this month’s posts in the Staging Diva Dispatch. Hopefully it will put you in the right mindset to conquer the fall real estate season!
