Home Stagers don’t be defeated by negative economic news

By Debra Gould, The Staging Diva >>

Like everyone else on the planet, I’ve been distracted by the economic news. Thankfully I’m not retiring tomorrow sonegative headlines I don’t have to sell my investments at a 30% – 40% loss. Did you ever wonder why when stores have a half price sale, people buy. But if a stock goes down 50% people sell? It totally defies logic and shows how important emotions are in what we do.

My goal had always been to become an entrepreneur before the age of 30 so I gave up a high-paying job to start my first business 20 years ago at the start of the last recession.

I’ve never regretted not working for someone else.

Back in the early 90s, corporations made massive cutbacks of their employees and house prices were declining in the double digits. Mortgages were in the 12% to 15% range, not the historically low rates of 2% to 6% that we see today. That’s a huge difference, but somehow you never see that mentioned in the news!

Make no mistake, the news media are profit-oriented corporations. They grow their audience by keeping you glued to the latest “crisis.” This gives you a distorted picture and makes it hard to see the opportunities that exist amidst all the doom and gloom.

They won’t focus on the over 92% of the population who still have jobs or the fact that the Housing Affordability Index (which measure how affordable homes are given household income, mortgage rates and house prices), is at it’s most favorable level since tracking began in 1970. That’s why 41% of purchasers are first time home buyers, the exact group most influenced by home staging.

I share lots of information like this in a new special report I’ve just finished called, Ask Staging Diva: Can I grow a home staging business in a depressed economy?

I had planned to charge for this report, since it took many hours to research and write, but I’ve decided to give it away to anyone who wants to read it, and I encourage you to share it with whomever you feel it will help. I’m sincere in my mission to inspire and empower others to live the life of their dreams and I want to get this information out to as many people as possible. I don’t want fear to stop you from seeing all the opportunities before you.
