If ever there was a type of real estate crying out for home staging, it’s the vacant, boxy, modern condo. It’s very hard to make one particular unit stand out when there are so many others with identical or very similar floor plans in the same building.
In a real estate market where condos are going for well over $500 a square foot, and most units are targeted to first-time buyers who need help imagining how to furnish a small space, staging is critical. Check out this beautifully staged condo by Staging Diva Graduate Nicole Hurst of Cole House Design for her client in downtown Toronto.
At 1200 square feet, this condo is larger than most in the area. The owner was also a realtor and property investor, with homes throughout Canada. She opted to show the condo completely vacant even though a real estate agent should know better!
This condo was on the real estate market for 30 days without attracting a single offer, so the

owner/agent canceled the listing and decided to have it staged.
After Nicole worked her magic, it sold within 10 days even though there were 15 other units for sale in the same building. Congratulations Nicole for providing solid proof to a real estate agent about the power of home staging. Since this was for her own home, this realtor is unlikely to forget what she’s learned from this experience, and will undoubtedly recommend staging to her clients and fellow agents.
Nicole writes, “The Staging Diva Program has shown me how to build a successful home staging business, and provided me with the tools and know-how to prosper in a topsy-turvy real estate market over the last few years. Thanks Debra!”
