Perhaps the homeowners had originally been the “I don’t have the budget for staging” types or maybe they just had an inexperienced agent who never told them how bad their house looked.
Einstein said, “the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” For a home seller, there’s nothing like ten months of sitting on the market with your life on hold to motivate you to try something different to get a better result.
This couple hired a new agent who called Holly after insisting the house needed to be staged. Within 4 days this registered nurse, home stager and busy mother of four had transformed the property. The listing price was increased to cover the cost of staging and the property sold the first weekend over and above the asking price.
This is only one of hundreds of examples of proof staging works and why you must get the word out about what you can do for your clients! “I don’t have the budget” usually means “I don’t understand the value of what you do.” It’s your job as a home stager to change that by helping them understand the significant difference staging can make.
